Ratio Six Coffee Machine

SCA Certified Home Brewer • Series 2 • 40oz Auto-Sealing Thermal Carafe • Matte Black

Pour-over precision without the pour-over routine.

The Ratio Six automates the part of hand-pouring that actually matters, the water temperature and the flow, and leaves you out of it. Push one button. Walk away. Come back to a full carafe brewed to the same standard a barista spends five minutes chasing by hand. Stainless steel, handblown borosilicate glass, no cheap plastic in the water path, and no warming plate scorching your coffee while you finish getting ready.

  • SCA Certified Home Brewer, one of roughly 31 in the world
  • Holds 197 to 205°F through the entire brew cycle
  • Automatic bloom, then even saturation through a 24-hole stainless showerhead
  • 40oz capacity, eight 5oz cups, in about five minutes
  • Auto-sealing thermal carafe, no warming plate, no burnt aftertaste
  • 5-year manufacturer warranty
  • Ships direct from Ratio. 100% disabled veteran-owned, and 10% of every order supports veteran and aviation causes.

LACC customers rate us 4.9 out of 5 across 3,000+ verified reviews.

The Certification That Sets It Apart

Most drip machines heat water to 175 to 185°F. That is well below the range specialty coffee needs, so the cup comes out flat, sour, and thin no matter how good the beans were. It is the single most common reason great coffee tastes disappointing at home.

The Ratio Six holds 197 to 205°F from first drop to last and hits the SCA Golden Cup standard for coffee-to-water ratio and extraction yield. The Specialty Coffee Association tests every certified brewer in a lab. Only about 31 home brewers in the world have earned the mark.

We roast nothing under 85 on the SCA scale. This is the brewer built to the same standard as the coffee.

Why It's Different

Every part of the machine has a job.

  • Automatic bloom releases CO2 from freshly roasted beans before full extraction starts, the same first step a barista does by hand.
  • 24-hole stainless showerhead saturates the entire coffee bed evenly, which reduces channeling and keeps extraction uniform.
  • 1400W die-cast aluminum heating element holds brew temperature instead of drifting down mid-cycle.
  • Auto-sealing thermal carafe holds brewing temperature for at least an hour with no hot plate cooking the coffee.
  • Materials that last, precision-stamped stainless steel, handblown borosilicate glass water lines, and BPA-free copolymers, backed for five years.

Low-profile and quiet. It fits under a cabinet and does not sound like a shop vac at 5am.

Series 2 Upgrades

  • Redesigned thermal carafe with a more pronounced spout for a cleaner pour, a wide opening for easy cleaning, and no moving parts.
  • Updated water tank markings that correlate to actual brew volume for more accurate dosing.
  • Enhanced heat shield around the showerhead, which raises extraction temperature and puts a hotter cup in the carafe.

The Series 2 carafe is compatible with the original Series 1 filter basket.

How To Dial It In

The Ratio Six is forgiving, but this is where we start.

  • Grind: Medium, about the texture of granulated sugar.
  • Ratio: 1:16, roughly 60g of coffee per 1000g of water.
  • Full carafe: About 70g of coffee for the full 40oz brew.
  • Water: Filtered and fresh. Never distilled.
  • Filter: Flat-bottom paper, or upgrade to the Able reusable basket for more body.

Go coarser for a lighter cup, finer for more body. For the full breakdown across every brew method, read our complete coffee brewing guide.

Questions about grind, ratio, or dial-in? Hit reply after you order. We brew on a Ratio Six daily and we can walk you through it.

Pair It With Coffee Built For It

The brewer is half the equation. Every bag we roast scores 85 or higher on the SCA scale, air-roasted on our Loring S35 Kestrel within days of shipping, so your first brew is the one the machine was designed for.

  • Colombian Cub. Smooth, balanced, approachable. The ideal first brew on a new machine.
  • NR7952 | The Little Red Bus. Ethiopia Natural, 86.25 SCA, direct trade from Sidama. Floral, complex, and bright. Exceptional on this machine.
  • ALMIGHTY Huey. Bold, full-bodied, and rich. A classic morning cup.
  • F-117 Nighthawk. Dark and smooth with low acidity, for depth without bitterness.

Common Questions

Is it worth the price? If you drink specialty grade coffee at home, yes. It is one of roughly 31 SCA Certified Home Brewers in the world, and it holds the temperature range that specialty coffee actually needs. A $100 to $200 drip machine brews at 175 to 185°F and under-extracts everything you put in it. At $5 to $6 a day for shop coffee, the Ratio Six pays for itself in about two months.

What is the SCA Certified Home Brewer mark? The Specialty Coffee Association lab-tests home brewers against strict standards for water temperature, brew time, and extraction yield. Only about 31 brewers in the world have earned it. It is the most reliable independent quality credential a home brewer can carry.

What grind and ratio should I use? Start at a medium grind and a 1:16 ratio, about 70g of coffee for a full 40oz carafe, then adjust to taste.

What changed in Series 2? A redesigned thermal carafe with no moving parts, a better spout, a wider opening for cleaning, updated tank markings, and an enhanced heat shield for a hotter cup. The Series 2 carafe works with the Series 1 filter basket.

How long does the carafe stay hot? The auto-sealing thermal carafe holds brewing temperature for at least an hour and stays pleasantly warm for several hours after. No warming plate means no scorched, stale coffee.

Can I brew into a Chemex? Yes. Remove the included filter basket and brew directly into a Chemex positioned underneath. You get the Chemex cup with the Ratio Six's temperature and bloom control.

What is the warranty? Ratio covers the Six for five years against defects in materials and workmanship, and we help facilitate any claim.

Where does it ship from? The brewer ships direct from Ratio's warehouse, so it reaches you without a second leg through our shop. Any coffee you add to the order is air-roasted and shipped from our roastery in Rockwall, Texas.

Same Standard, End To End

We hold every bean to 85 or higher before we roast it. Ratio holds every cycle to 197 to 205°F before it pours. Put the two together and the guesswork disappears from your morning.
