FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Here you’ll find clear, direct answers to the questions Legends ask most about our coffee, quality standards, shipping, and package protection.
Coffee & Roasting
Q1. What makes air-roasted coffee so different?
Air roasting is the cleanest, most precise way to roast coffee. Instead of tumbling beans in a metal drum where they can scorch or pick up smoke, we suspend them in a vortex of hot, clean air.
The result: even roast, no bitterness, no burnt flavors, just high-clarity flavor and rich complexity. This isn’t your gas station dark roast. This is coffee engineered for taste.
Q2. Do you add flavors to your coffee?
Never. Legendary Aviation Coffee is Single Origin only—no artificial flavoring, no syrups, no gimmicks.
Each origin has its own natural tasting notes, and our air roasting plus craft-batch approach highlights that without masking it. You’re drinking pure coffee, not a chemistry project.
Q3. Is your coffee fair trade?
We go a step above. Our model is direct trade and relationship-driven sourcing, which puts more money in farmers’ hands and gives us access to Tier 1, top 1% quality beans.
Fair Trade is fine. Direct trade is better—for farmers and for your cup.
Q4. What is coffee scoring, and where does your coffee rate?
Coffee is scored on a 100-point scale. Anything 80+ is considered specialty grade.
Our coffees are independently scored 85+, which puts them in the elite tier of global coffee quality. High scoring. High clarity. Zero bitterness.
Quality, Standards & Sourcing
Q5. What is specialty-grade, and why does it matter?
Specialty grade means beans have been rigorously graded, are defect-free, and cup above 80 points.
Less than 1% of global coffee qualifies as true Tier 1 specialty grade. We only roast those beans—nothing lower makes it into a Legendary bag.
Q6. Why don’t you offer organic-certified coffee?
Organic certification is a label—not a guarantee of quality.
Specialty-grade coffee often exceeds organic farming standards because farmers must follow elite practices to produce high-scoring coffee. We choose farms based on quality, sustainability, ethics, and integrity—not whether they paid for a certification stamp.
Q7. How fresh is your coffee when it arrives?
Our coffee is roasted in craft batches, not mass production runs. Your order is roasted shortly before shipping, not months ahead.
You’ll taste the difference immediately in clarity, aroma, and sweetness in the cup.
Q8. What grind size should I use?
The right grind depends on your brewing method:
- French Press: coarse
- Drip brewer: medium
- Pour over (V60/Chemex): medium-fine
- Espresso: fine
If you want help dialing it in, reach out—we’ll help you match grind to gear.
Q9. What’s the best way to store my coffee?
Store coffee in an airtight container, away from light, heat, and moisture. Do not refrigerate or freeze; it damages oils and flavor structure.
For maximum clarity and aroma, buy whole bean and grind right before brewing.
Q10. Can I visit your roasting facility in Rockwall, Texas?
Not yet—but soon. We’re building toward more public-facing experiences.
Follow our social channels for pop-ups, events, and behind-the-scenes drops where you can meet the team and taste what we roast.
Q11. Should I be concerned about mold or pesticides in coffee?
Not with us. Mold, toxins, and pesticide scare tactics are usually marketing ploys from low-grade brands trying to sound elite.
Our sourcing partners follow industry-leading practices:
- Proper drying
- Thorough sorting
- Clean storage
- Climate control
Specialty-grade coffee is held to much higher standards than bulk commodity coffee—and we roast only the top 1%. Your cup is clean, safe, and built for clarity.
Q12. Why does your coffee taste smoother than others?
Because we don’t scorch it. Air roasting delivers a clean, even roast with no smoke contamination.
Combine that with Tier 1 beans and craft-batch roasting, and you get a cup that’s naturally smooth and complex—no creamer required.
Shipping, Orders & Package Protection
Q13. What is SavedBy shipping protection?
SavedBy is optional package protection offered at checkout. It covers lost, stolen, or damaged packages—the exact issues carriers rarely take responsibility for.
If something goes wrong in transit and you added SavedBy, your reorder or refund is handled through their claim process.
Q14. What happens if I decline SavedBy?
If you remove SavedBy at checkout, you are choosing to ship without protection.
In that case:
- You assume responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged packages.
- Legendary Aviation Coffee is not required to replace or refund orders affected by carrier issues.
- Any claims must be taken directly to USPS, UPS, or FedEx.
This keeps the process fair and transparent for everyone.
Q15. Does SavedBy cover shipping costs or taxes?
No. SavedBy covers the value of the products only. Shipping charges, taxes, duties, and the protection fee itself are not refundable.
Q16. How do I file a SavedBy claim?
After purchase, SavedBy emails you your protection details. If something happens, you file the claim through their portal using your order number.
They handle the claim and resolution directly.
Q17. Does free shipping include insurance?
No. Free shipping uses USPS Ground Advantage or its current USPS equivalent, and it does not include insurance unless you add SavedBy at checkout.
Q18. The carrier delivered my package to the wrong address—am I covered?
SavedBy does not cover incorrect addresses entered at checkout. If the wrong address is entered by the customer, carriers generally will not insure or reroute the package, and it may be unrecoverable.
Always double-check your shipping details before submitting your order.
