NR7952 | The Little Red Bus, Ethiopia Natural Light Roast
Wings & Grace Collection | Inspired by Amelia Earhart
On May 20, 1932, Amelia Earhart climbed into a bright red Lockheed Vega 5B at Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, pointed it east across the Atlantic Ocean, and flew alone into aviation history. Registration number NR7952. The airplane she called her Little Red Bus. Fifteen hours later she landed in a pasture near Londonderry, Northern Ireland, the first woman, and only the second person after Charles Lindbergh, to fly solo across the Atlantic. Then three months later she flew it nonstop across the United States, coast to coast, the first woman ever to do that too. NR7952 is now at the Smithsonian. The records stand forever.
Amelia Earhart didn't become legendary because of one flight. She became legendary because she kept climbing when the world told her the altitude wasn't hers to have. A pilot who moved through a world that said no at every altitude and found a way to yes anyway, with grace, with grit, and in a bright red airplane with a nickname that sounded like freedom.
This coffee is named for that airplane. It's built for the Legend she was.
The Wings & Grace Collection
NR7952 | The Little Red Bus is part of the Wings & Grace Collection, a Legendary Aviation Coffee Company series dedicated to the women of aviation history who built the flight line before most people knew there was one. Each product in the collection carries a name, a story, and a standard worthy of the woman it honors. Grace, grit, and zero apology for either.
The Coffee: Single Origin Ethiopia Natural, Air-Roasted Light
The bean behind NR7952 is sourced through Cafe Kreyol, a direct-trade specialty importer paying up to 300% above Fair Trade minimums to smallholding farmers across Ethiopia's finest growing regions. This is a single origin Ethiopian natural process coffee, meaning the whole fruit was dried intact around the seed. That traditional processing method allows the natural sugars and fruit compounds of the cherry to fully penetrate the bean during drying. The result is a cup that carries fruit character washed coffees simply cannot replicate.
Air-roasted on the Loring S35 Kestrel at a true light roast, well below 430°F, which means the bean's origin character is protected from start to finish. No dark roast hiding behind the origin. No drum combustion gases contaminating the profile. Just clean, precise heat and the full expression of what an Ethiopian natural does when nobody gets in its way.
Tasting Notes: Dark Fruit, Creamy Nutty Body, Fig & Floral Finish
NR7952 is not a bright, citrus-forward Ethiopian. It's something more elegant than that, and more interesting. The cup opens with dark fruit undertones that feel weighted and rich rather than sharp, underpinned by a creamy, nutty body that gives this coffee a depth and texture most light roasts don't carry. A subtle savory note runs through the mid-cup, earthy, almost wine-adjacent, before the profile opens into fig: ripe, warm, and slightly sweet. The finish is where the floral character arrives, soft and unhurried, lingering just long enough to remind you what kind of bean you're drinking. This is a cup that unfolds rather than announces itself. Score: 86.25.
This is not a coffee that needs help. No syrup. No cream. Pour it slow, let it cool slightly, and let it tell you what it is.

Why Natural Process and Why It Matters
Most specialty coffee is washed: the fruit is removed from the seed immediately after harvest, which produces a clean, bright cup with high clarity. Natural process takes the opposite approach. The whole cherry is dried intact, sometimes for weeks, with the fruit still wrapped around the bean. During that time the sugars and flavor compounds from the fruit migrate into the seed. The result is a cup with a depth of fruit character, a sweetness, and a body complexity that washed processing can't achieve.
Ethiopian naturals in particular, grown from ancient heirloom varieties at high elevation, are considered by the specialty coffee world to be among the most complex and expressive cups on earth. NR7952 ships as whole bean coffee so you can grind to brew method and protect every note in the cup. This is why. This is NR7952.
How to Brew NR7952
Pour Over: Recommended
Pour over is the mission-recommended brew method for NR7952. The slower, more controlled extraction lets the dark fruit and fig notes develop fully while preserving the creamy body that makes this coffee distinctive. Use water at 200°F, a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio, and a 45-second bloom pour before continuing in slow, steady circles. Let the cup cool slightly before the first sip. The savory depth and floral finish open up as the temperature drops. This is a cup that rewards patience.
Cold Brew: Excellent
The dark fruit and fig character in NR7952 comes forward beautifully cold: rich, slightly jammy, with the creamy body holding up through the ice in a way lighter Ethiopian profiles don't always manage. Steep at a 1:8 ratio for 18 to 20 hours in the refrigerator. Strain and pour over ice. The savory depth mellows cold and the floral finish becomes more pronounced. No additions needed. Drink it as Amelia would have, straight, no chaser, pointed toward the horizon.
