High Altitude Men's Sherpa Lined Zip Hoodie | 14 oz Heavyweight

Standard lapse rate says the air cools about 3.5 degrees for every thousand feet you climb, so at 10,000 feet it runs some 35 degrees colder than the ramp. Dress like it.

This is our warmest piece: a fleece shell lined with thick sherpa through the body and the hood, 14 oz in all. Sherpa is a polyester pile made to mimic sheepskin, and the loft traps warm air the way a shearling flight jacket did for bomber crews. The zipper is a heavy exposed metal one in antique nickel, and every seam is double-needle stitched.

Our propeller crest rides on the left chest, a full-size crest spans the upper back, and the right sleeve carries the salute: We Salute Our Veterans, Thank You For Your Service.

The flag on that sleeve runs stars-forward on purpose. On a military uniform the flag on the right shoulder is reversed so the stars lead, as if it's flying in the wind while the wearer moves forward.

Measured laid flat. Body length runs from the high point of the shoulder to the hem. Chest width is measured 1 in below the armhole, side to side, so double it for the full chest. Easiest way to pick: lay a favorite hoodie flat, measure it the same way, and match the numbers.

A generous men's fit with room for the sherpa and a layer underneath. A medium measures 24 in across the chest laid flat and 30 in long. Most people take their usual size.
